• It is a staple for many people around the world.
• Uses :
1. As food products.
2. Making of animal-livestock feeds.
3. As starch for glue, laundry, brewing, textiles, paper industries and tapioca pudding.
4. Use as a feedstock for bio-fuel - source of ethanol, a high-octane, water-free alcohol used as a gasoline substitute or alternative fuel.
5. A viable substitute staple food to help prevent a food crisis.
6. It can be processed to yield modified cassava flour, noodles, bread, donuts, snacks and crackers.
7. It can be made into bio-plastic like in Thailand, Europe and in fact large companies such as Nokia, Sony and Mitsubishi are already manufacturing products with bio-plastic components.
